Eye plastic surgery: types of operations, prices, contraindications, restoration

Blepharoplasty, also known as plastic eye surgery, is one of the cheapest and easiest surgeries in cosmetic surgery. At the same time, this intervention can alleviate the most pronounced signs of aging - overhang and swelling in the eyelid area. During the operation, which also lasts no longer than an hour and a half, fatty hernias are carefully removed, usually called "bags" under the eyes, excess skin is cut off, and the problem of bruises under the eyes is removed. the world "under the eyebrows" under the burden of swelling of the upper and lower eyelids, then at the exit his gaze becomes open, youthfully "raised" and fresh.

Limited eye plastic surgery

Contrary to popular skepticism, the natural shape of the eyes after blepharoplasty does not change, it does not become artificially stretched, as in Jocelyn Wildenstein. To achieve such a result, you must at least exceed the "limit" of plastic surgery for a person, and there should not be more than four. It is not known how many Jocelyn had, but she apparently went far beyond what was allowed.

In general, plastic surgeons say that during the operation the eyes literally lengthen by 1-2 mm - these changes are usually not noticed even by the patients themselves. But if they constantly retreat and increase by 1 cm, then they will inevitably begin to reveal all the secrets that are so carefully hidden.

But at the same time, experts immediately point out that the effect of plastic eye surgery lasts only 5-7 years. Therefore, most patients here are over 35 years of age with visible age-related deformities, which cause significant discomfort to the person.

Another important thing: blepharoplasty does not smooth wrinkles in the corners of the eyes, which are also called "crow's feet". There are now various injections for this purpose - from botulinum toxin to more natural vitamin cocktails based on hyaluronic acid. Today, it is the easiest, fastest and most painless way to get rid of small wrinkles, not only around the eyes, but also on the forehead, in the area of the nasolabial fold, between the eyebrows.

Age-related changes are not the only indicator of eye plastic surgery

before and after eye surgery

However, age as an indication for blepharoplasty is a fairly relative criterion, as young people often turn to plastic surgeons who need plastic eye surgery because of the background of premature signs of aging in this area. Early aging of this zone in them may be due to the following reasons:

  • genetic predisposition to rapid aging or the formation of "bags" under the eyes;
  • liver and kidney disease;
  • "Unhealthy" lifestyle: consuming too much salty food, alcohol, smoking;
  • harmful cosmetic habits, such as stretching the skin when applying the cream, the habit of not rinsing off makeup, lack of proper cosmetic care.

If the young patient does not have to remove the excess skin, the surgeon will prefer modern techniques of plastic eye surgery - transconjunctival blepharoplasty. This technique is the most non-traumatic and does not even require stitches. Only in this way can you remove only the fatty deposits (bags under the eyes) in the upper and lower eyelids, without cutting out other tissues.

To perform the manipulations, the plastic surgeon pulls out the lid, makes a millimeter sting on its inner side, which is called the conjunctiva, and through it removes the fatty hernias that are the reason for creating bags under the eyes. The puncture located on the mucosa is tightened soon after the operation without any additional interventions, because here the tissues regenerate especially quickly. Usually, after such an operation, the patient is sent for discharge 1-1, 5 hours after the intervention.

Indications for plastic eye surgery

  • fatty hernias in the upper and / or lower eyelid;
  • "Bruises" under the eyes;
  • swelling in the periorbital region;
  • upper eyelid ptosis;
  • wrinkles and excess skin around the eyes;
  • eye asymmetry (shape and cut);
  • one crease in the area of the upper eyelids (typical for Asian-looking people)

Methods of plastic eye surgery

In modern plastic surgery, there are two main methods of performing blepharoplasty:

  • Laser- cuts are made with a laser beam;
  • Surgically- "access" is opened with a scalpel.

Types of plastic surgery operations for eye correction

All interventions in plastic surgery on the eyes do not last longer than an hour and a half. They are performed either under general anesthesia (preferably for circular blepharoplasty), or under local anesthesia based on adrenaline and 1-2 solutions of lidocaine. Within two hours after the operation, the patient must be in the clinic in order to rule out complications.

Sutures after plastic eye surgery are removed within 3-4 days - in the case of classic blepharoplasty, if the operation was performed transconjunctivally, then they are not placed at all.

After blepharoplasty, bruising and some swelling may last around the eyes for 1 to 2 weeks. In general, this is a normal occurrence - you just have to wait.

Plastic surgery of the upper eyelids

It assumes eye correction in the area of the upper eyelids. As a result, "difficult" leaks are eliminated, excess skin is removed. For manipulations, the plastic surgeon makes an incision in the area of the natural crease located in the area of the upper eyelid, after which he removes the excess skin flap, and after opening the access to the fatty tissues, he also removes them. The notch here is sewn with an inner seam and special thinnest threads. As a result, within 1-2 months, the scar becomes completely invisible even to the patient.

Lower eyelid plastic surgery and removal of bruises and bags under the eyes

With blepharoplasty on the lower eyelid, an incision is made 1-2 millimeters below the lash line. During the operation, the surgeon first cuts off a portion of the excess skin, after which he opens and removes the tissue from the fatty sacs, which are fatty hernias. Sometimes lower blepharoplasty, on the contrary, does not remove fat deposits, but slightly complements them, evenly distributing them over the "lower" zone.

After that, internal sutures are applied, which, as in the first case, completely fade after about 1-2 months and become completely invisible.

Circular blepharoplasty

This is a simultaneous correction of the lower and upper eyelid.

Eye plastic surgery

before and after eye surgery

This eye plastic surgery technique is the most sought after among Asian-looking people. The intervention, also called cantoplasty, allows you to turn one fold of the upper eyelid, characteristic of the Asian population, into a double fold, similar to the one we have.

During eye incision plastic surgery, the epicanthus (the characteristic overhang of the skin fold in the inner corner of the eye) is removed by simultaneously creating a crescent-shaped double fold. Excess fat deposits around the eyes are also removed.

But the Asian appearance is not the only indicator for plastic surgery of the eye, that is, with the correction of the folds of the upper eyelid. With such an intervention, you can correct the shape of the eyes, their cut, tighten the lowered outer corners. Cantoplasty is no more traumatic than other types of blepharoplasty.

Recovery period after eye plastic surgery

On average, the recovery period lasts 2 to 6 weeks. People who do not smoke and who strictly adhere to all postoperative recommendations of the surgeon can count on a minimum of time:

  1. 7-10 days the patient must wear tinted glasses;
  2. you need to stop wearing contact lenses in favor of glasses for about 10-14 days;
  3. avoid physical exertion, sudden movements, bending, it can cause cracking of seams;
  4. you must give up cosmetic procedures for at least a month;
  5. make-up is allowed only 10 days after surgery.

Contraindications for eye plastic surgery

  • cardiovascular diseases;
  • colds and infectious diseases;
  • oncology;
  • diabetes;
  • respiratory failure;
  • liver and kidney disease;
  • chronic diseases in the acute phase;
  • thyroid disease;
  • mental disorders;
  • violation of blood clotting;
  • pregnancy and lactation

In order to identify the factors that interfere with plastic surgery on the eyes, the following tests are performed:

  • general blood test;
  • blood for coagulogram;
  • blood chemistry;
  • cardiologist's conclusion based on ECG;
  • endocrinologist's conclusion;
  • abdominal ultrasound;
  • blood test for HIV;
  • a visit to a psychologist.

The cost of eye plastic surgery

In recent years, the prices of plastic surgery have dropped significantly. This is mainly due to the technological processing of this area, but in no way with a reduction in the quality of services provided. Previously, plastic surgeons operated mostly with only one scalpel and according to outdated techniques, making large and deep incisions that left fairly noticeable scars. Today, instead of these techniques, there are more affordable high-tech techniques that allow you to perform any surgical interventions quickly and minimally invasively. As a result, the cost of plastic surgery has become more affordable for ordinary people.
